Biography
Susan Woodard was born in Yazoo City,Mississippi in 1977 and grew up in a small town in the Mississippi Delta 20 miles northwest of Yazoo. She received her MFA from The University of Mississippi in 2003 with an emphasis in painting and drawing. She received her BFA from Louisiana State University in 1999.

Her work deals with events in history through a language of abstract paint handling. Circles are a dominating theme in her work and are used as symbols for individual people making the imagery of her paintings confetti-like, floral, and organic in composition. Most of these images are arranged from an areal perspective.

Susan was the 2001 Mississippi Collegiate Best-in-Show recipient, has had numerous group exhibitions, and four solo exhibitions. She currently teaches as an adjunct faculty member at The University of Mississipppi.
